Model AA: available and affordable
The Ford Model-A among Security Keys
This biggest counter-argument against Security Keys is costs. And similar to the legacy of visionair Henry Ford -how he made cars available to the ordinairy man-, we today would like -in the same vision- make Security Keys in reach to anyone.
The AA is simply a tiny custom Arduino, allowing anyone to use FIDO2 authentincation for ± € 7,50
Now the price
argument is eliminated, no valid excuse is left: so start improving your security level now!
The hardware is non-propriaty. Simply a normal but tiny Arduino. So yes, somewhat DIY, but not complicated.
And hence: this allows for firmware updates like barely any other security key manufacturer is offering.
Also contrary to common practise: this device it's lifespan is basically eternal.
Model AX: advanced and experts
The Rolls-Royce among Security Keys,
or probably better compared to an Swiss Army Knife
Highly DIY customizable hardware, best described selfpowered 4-port USB hub, controled by a tiny Arduino brain
, adding extra biometric and other authenticating features - on top of the authentication features of it's modules.
The AA model fits exactly as module in the AX model. You can add between 0 to 4 modules. Modules could be:
- HSM
- Fido2 / Security Key
- OpenPGP
- Random Number Generator (RNG)
- Anything custom you desire
